Piers Tempest After leaving Bristol University with a first class degree, Piers started his career in film at Working Title in London where, over the course of a couple of years he gained valuable hands-on production experience on films such as Jake Scott’s Plunkett & Macleane. He then left to pursue freelance work for Director’s such as Philip Kaufman on Fox Searchlight’s Quills. Moving from physical production into development, Piers worked on several films for a London-based financier including Gillies Mckinnon’s Pure, the BAFTA-nominated American Cousins and John Henderson’s Two Men Went to War. He has produced several short films including The Poetry Thief and the multi award winning Subterfugue. He co-produced the James Toback feature film When Will I Be Loved starring Neve Campbell. In 2004 he produced the feature film Oyster Farmer directed by Anna Reeves, starring Kerry Armstrong and Jack Thompson which was nominated for ‘Best Picture’ in the 2005 AFI Awards. More recently he produced the psychological Like Minds starring Toni Collette and executive produced Arlen Figgis’ Zoot Circus. Piers heads production for Buena Onda where he has overseen and co-produced the company’s Latin American and UK projects such as Cochochi in 2007 which was selected for the Venice and Toronto Film Festival where it won the critics award and The Workshop which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007. He is producing the supernatural thriller The Caller in partnership with BenderSpink, Royal Parade and Scatter Light and Rainey the Assassin to be directed by Miguel Sapochnik. Tempest has most recently executive produced the thriller Coffin Rock for Wolf Creek producer David Lightfoot and currently oversees all acquisitions for Salt. Tempest is an alumni of the ‘Inside Pictures’ Film Executive programme in 2007 and is on the partnership Board of the Bradford ‘City Of Film’ UNESCO bid.
