This past August, a group of similarly minded artists, producers and students from all parts of Latin America and beyond gathered in Bolivia for a concentrated week of cinema and theatre, practical workshops, masterclasses, seminars and discussions. The goal was to share a wealth of ideas, between artistic disciplines and between countries, and to agree on a way of propogating these ideas, allowing Latin American cinema and theatre to grow and develop with a voice and images of its own.

As a result we are proud to announce the Yotala Declaration, our motivation and proposals for developing what has been started, and creating a foundation from which these ideas can spread and grow.

The first step is to start the physical construction of a center in the idyllic mountains of Yotala, the sixteen-year home to the Teatro de los Andes, as a place where visiting writers and directors can concentrate on developing their works and be inspired by their surroundings, also as a base for workshops and meetings to be held throughout the year.
