Established in 2003, Cinergia is an organisation whose primary goal is to unite and empower the Central American and Cuban film industries not only through dialogue and training but also through direct access to funding and development services. With offices and representation throughout the region, Cinergia has emerged as one of its most important players, single-handedly championing and facilitating the type of cross-platform discussion vital to successful joint ventures and co-productions in the area. Counting as its active allies an admirable network of cultural centres, NGO's, film funds, film festivals and production companies, and renowned institutions of higher education as supporting partners, Cinergia has pushed to consolidate and promote the interests of all filmmakers in Central America and Cuba, consequently elevating their profile and providing a tangible forum and outlet for their cinematic voice. In light of this similar culturally-minded spirit, we have, over the last few months worked to establish a supporting link with Cinergia which will see Buena Onda join Costa Rica in co-producing two upcoming features in Nicaragua and Panama. We are proud to join the ranks of professionals such as Salvadorian documentary-maker Paula Heredia, Guatemalan academic and hsitorian Edgar Barillas, and Mexican director Maria Novaro in making a real contribution to Central American and Cuban cinema.
