ICHNOS

Ichnos is a new worldwide digital distribution network, leveraging on premiere events in collaboration with major film festivals. The project started at the Venice Biennale 2010 and is growing rapidly all over the world.

In many respects it is clear to everyone that the conventional methods of distribution have been bankrupt for a long time and its impossible to survive for independents under these conditions. In the last few years, thanks to cooperation with some of the best sales agents (Hanway, Celluloid Dreams/Nightmares, Fortissimo, Filmsharks, Umedia, Ondamax, Latido, Salt etc.), and National institutes (IMCINE, ANCINE, INCAA, CINERGIA, DOC.IT, DOC TV, Puerto Rico etc) ICHNOS has access to 3000 films, a large library ready to be distributed worldwide to complement the programming of specific events at festivals, where films are shown only once, but simultaneously with their premiere.

Ichnos received the patronage of the MIBAC (Italian Ministry of Culture) and the Venice Biennale, and has been presented at the Venice Biennale 2010, Eurovisioni (Rome) 2010, Terre di Siena 2010 and at the 34th Internacional de Cinema in São Paulo as well as other single “test” screening events at other festivals.

Starting from those experiences, other high-profile film festivals are now in discussion to join the project: Turin, Dubai, Berlin, Rome, Guadalajara, Antalya, Belize, AFI, Paulinha, Gramado, Singapore, Port Harcourt, Zanzibar, Marseilles, Montreal, Cannes, Dubai, Kiev, Moscow and more.

ICHNOS NETWORK HD is not only a new business model which brings a much needed immediacy and transparency to the system; it is a new idea of empowering the notion of community, so that excellent films left at the sidelines and mounting up, forgotten, may really have a chance to reach their potential audiences directly.

We intend to offer premieres with the possibility of longer runs on some titles, plus a substantial catalogue of features and documentaries to choose from as well as the availability of film makers to answer questions at the end of screenings and other, exciting, alternative content which will be announced in Cannes 2011.
